Homemade Cleansers

I have been a domestic diva again. I recently had a RS meeting on homemade house cleansers or whatever you want to call them. They are super cheap to make and work just as great as the expensive brand names.
I really really like the tub and tile cleanser, it works awesome! Also the over-night toilet bowl cleaner is fabulous! I made all of these with just a small kitchen size vinegar (not the huge jug) and a gallon of distilled water plus all the other stuff.
NOtE: liquid soap is can be found at your natural food store and can come in differnt scents too. I got the lavendar so I didnt have to buy essential oil. Liquid detergent is your everyday dish soap such as Dawn. Also Tea Tree oil can be found at your natural food store. AND always follow the order of mixing as directed...please.

All-purpose Household Cleaner - use on counter tops, fridge, walls, tile, shower walls, and toilets! Also great for trassh cans!

~ingredients: Liquid soap or detergent, white distilled vinegar, borax, purified water, and essential oil for fragence if you wish. You will also need a 16 oz spray bottle.

Mix 2 tbsp. vinegar with 1 tsp. borax. Fill the rest of the bottle with very hot water. Shake until borax dissolved. Add 1/2 cup liquid soap or 1/8 cup detergent last (so you dont get foamy!) Add 10-15 drops essential oil for fragrence.

Antisceptic Spray - Use on floors, toys, bathtubs, tilet seats, urine spills, vomit, and other germy things like door knobs, telephones, light switches and so on.

~ ingredients: Liquid soap, purified water and tea tree oil. 16 oz spray bottle

Fill bottle almost full with purified water and then add 3 tbsp. of liquid soap (do in this order to prevent foaming). Add 20-30 drops tea tree oil. Shake to mix.

Tub and Tile Paste - Add a glob to your sponge and scrub away at your tile and tub! And rinse well. If you feel like there is grainy baking soda remaing you can spray some vinegar on and listen to it fizz. I dont really care about if there is some lingaring, it will get rined off eventually.

~ingredients: Baking soda, liquid soap, vinegar, water, 16 oz plastice or wide-mouth jar. (I used an old durable, clear plastic water bottle with oz markings)

Mix 1 2/3 cup baking soda with 1/2 cup liquid soap in a bowl. Add 2 tbsp water. Mix with fork until smooth. Stir in 2 tbsp. vinegar last. It will foam nicely. If mixture dries out between uses just add some warm water. And always shake it up a bit before use. Make sure you mix in this order or you will get gunk instead of paste!

Toilet Bowl Over-night Ceaner - Pour 1/2 cup of mixture in bowl, and hold brush over bowl and sprinkle some on brush. Swish around the edges and bowl, shake off brush and close lid. Let sit over night and wake up to a sparkleing bowl! It even deorderizes the bathroom a bit too!

~ ingredeints: borax and tea tree oil

Mix 30 drops tea tree oil to each cup of borax. Store in a covered container.

Sanitize that toilet brush! - Just add 1tsp salt to toilet brush container and fill with hot water! Rinse out in the morning.

I also made Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent using the Duggars recipe(you know, 19 kids and Counting). Its Super cheap per load and makes a ton. But your clothes dont come out selling like fresh laundry but they are clean! I miss the fresh laundry smell.

I hope this gives you a renewed excitement to clean like it did for me!...at least for a while.

Ketchup

Catching up is laborious but fun because I get to see how much lilM has already changed! haha that means I am so far behind. No matter. With this fun new software it is making blogging more fun (picasa, thanks gals for the tip!)...or at least easier to add pics. (I hate waiting for loading pics. By the time they load I have moved on to another chore or fallen asleep. yes, I said chore, sorry to all those that love blogging, I am just not as savvy as you or developed a love for it...yet.) I also want to start sharing my latest discoveries and not just pic after pic of our sweet lilM, which are fun and all, but I know you want more!

So here is a little more...

We are expecting our first boy in December! We are so thrilled! Won't talk about how hard this pregnancy has been. All that know me, know all about it! I want to avoid that and focus on the joy of it now. So - let the preparations begin - send me any cutesy boy crafting ideas for me to start!!!

Hitched

My beautiful sister got hitched Wyoming style in the end of June. It was a beautiful wedding, scenery was gorgeous, bride was stunning, groom was beaming, and of course lilM was charming everyone. She was the flower girl and Bonnie the Matron of Honor. We missed the rehearsal due to flight delays but lilM did everything one que! She even followed gracefully behind Bonnie back down the aisle!

After the wedding we spent a few days in Cody with fam and of course went to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.

Houston slash Galveston

Went to visit Spencer's long time friend Dan in Houston. (that city is nuts with all the toll roads! we were lost 90% of the time, even with GPS!!!)Drove down to Galveston Island twice. We were so desperate to be at a beach. The water was so warm. It was very different than a California beach, only similarity was the not so clear water. It was a great getaway weekend full of new experiences and adventures. Thanks Dan for being a great host!
